In the Connect Using field, enter the COM port you want to use (this will normally
be COM1).

Select OK.
The COM Properties window displays (see Figure 2-4).

Enter the following settings:
Bits Per Second: 9600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None

Select OK.
A blank HyperTerminal screen displays (see Figure 2-5).
