Warning – AMMCO 901175 Clip-on Silencer User Manual
Page 2
To prevent bodily injury, never install the
No. 901175 Clip-on Silencer while the rotor
is turning.
4.
Position the silencer and the cutting mechanism so
that the silencer friction pads are squeezing the rotor and
resting upon the carbide inserts (F). The silencer frame
spring should rest on the ledge (E) of the cutting mecha-
nism, fig. 4.
5.
The direction of the rotor rotation (D) should always
tend to force the silencer into the face of the tool bits and
away from the center of the rotor, fig. 4.
When using the “On-the-Car” lathe, the carriage casting
(G) should prevent the silencer friction pads from sliding
off of the tool bits, fig. 4.
When using a Twin Cutter on a bench type lathe, the
safety shield can be adjusted to prevent the silencer fric-
tion pads from sliding off of the tool bits.
6.
Begin to machine the rotor as described in the lathe
operations manual. When the cut is finished, the silencer
will snap off of the rotor.
Note:
When using the “On-the-Car” lathe, one side of
the vehicle will require the silencer to be installed from
the underside of the lathe, fig. 5.
