6 INCH CHIPPER
OPERATION
4.4 beginning To chiP
Warning
With the engine slightly above idle, engage the
chipper blades by slowly pushing the chipper engage-
ment handle down.
gradually increase engine speed with the throttle
until full idle is achieved. the engine
must be at full
operating speed before you start to chip material.
engage the hydraulic feed by positioning the feed
roller control arm in forward position.
Place limbs butt end first into the chipper chute,
where they contact the hydraulic feed roller and will
be drawn into the chipper blades.
feed brush from the side of the chute, rather than
from the front. Step aside to avoid being hit by the
brush moving into the chipper.
if the chipper jams, reverse the feed by moving the
feed roller control arm to the reverse position.
adjust the speed of the feed roller, if necessary, by turn-
ing the speed control knob beneath the control panel.
alternate greener material with dry material to
lubricate the chipping blades for longer life and better
performance. the chipping blades will require periodic
sharpening (refer to Sec. 5.2,).

obtain and wear safety glasses at all times when
operating the machine. Do not wear loose fitting cloth-
ing. use common sense and practice safety to protect
yourself from branches, sharp objects and other harm-
ful objects.
4.3 moving chuTe and discharge caP
Direct the discharge chute and cap to adjust how high and
how far the chipped material will be thrown. the chipper
chute can be locked in 18 different positions.
to rotate the chute, grasp any two of the four chute
handles, pull the handles down to a horizontal postion,
and turn the chute.
take the lock pin out of its holder and put it into the
hole in the discharge rotator plate. Adjust the chute
position until the pin can drop into place.
Secure the lock pin with the clip.
Adjust the discharge cap by turning the discharge
adjuster. Turning the handle clockwise will rotate the
discharge cap upward. turning the handle counter-
clockwise will rotate the discharge cap downward.

Warning
never lean over the chute to push objects into the cutting
device. use a push stick or brush paddle.
never use shovels or forks to push brush. they can
go through the chipper and cause major damage. In
addition, metal pieces can come back like shrapnel
to injure or kill.
never push brush into the chute with your feet or any
part of your body.
