Error description Cause Solution
No or too little damping Antivibration pad is too soft.
Both shells come in
contact with one another. Use stronger antivibration
pad.
No or too little damping after
a longer period of time Antivibration pad is too soft.
The damping material is com-
pressed too much over time by a
too heavy load. The initial sinking
depth exceeded 2 mm. Use stronger antivibration
pad.
No or too little damping Antivibration pad is too strong.
The antivibration pad is not
pressed together adequately
(1.5 – 2 mm) Use weaker antivibration
pad
No or too little damping Antivibration pad is not
positioned correctly under the
microscope foot. Shells come in
contact with one another. Center the antivibration
pad under the microscope
foot (see chapter 3).
