The antivibration pads consist of two half-shells connected inside by an insulating material.
See Figure 2.

The insulation material absorbs incoming external vibrations, footfalls and building vibrations
that affect the microscope setup.

The insulation material functions best when it is slightly compressed. This is apparent with a
smaller gap between the two half shells.

This is visible in the gap between the two half shells. This gap also serves to control whether the
antivibration pad has been positioned correctly. When correctly positioned, the edges of the
gap must always be parallel to one another. The insulation function is eliminated when the two
half shells come into contact at any point. On the other hand, the damping function is also
prevented by an inadequate sinking depth (in the case of an antivibration pad that is too strong).

The underside of the antivibration pad has a grip mat. The identification plate including weight
class entry is found in the middle of the mat.
