Using AppleShare Client 3.8.6
System Requirements
You need to install AppleShare Client 3.8.6 if you want to connect to a server that has
Mac OS X Server installed. For added enhancements, including much better performance,
Mac OS 8.6 or later is recommended. Mac OS 8.1 or later is required.
Installing AppleShare Client Software
To install AppleShare Client 3.8.6 software, follow these steps:

Make sure your computer is using Mac OS 8.1 or later. If it isn’t, upgrade your system software.
To determine the system software version your computer is using, choose About This
Computer from the Finder’s Apple (
K
) menu.
Note:
Before you upgrade, make sure your computer meets the hardware requirements for
the version of the Mac OS you want to install.
If you need to upgrade, follow the installation instructions provided with the system software.

Make sure your AppleTalk and TCP/IP control panels are configured.
If you upgraded from Mac OS 8.1 to a later version, or if you used the Mac OS Setup Assistant
and the Internet Setup Assistant after installing Mac OS 8.1, then your AppleTalk and TCP/IP
settings are already set up. For more information on setting up the AppleTalk and TCP/IP
control panels, look in the Help menu or contact your server administrator.

Locate and open the AppleShare Client folder.

Double-click the Installer icon in the AppleShare Client folder.
A license agreement appears.

To display the license agreement in the language that is appropriate for you, choose a language
from the pop-up menu.

Read the license agreement and if you agree to its terms, click Agree.
