REW(ind) Button
When in Stop mode, press to
rewind the tape at high speed.
During tape playback, press to
rewind the tape while the picture
stays on-screen. Details are on
page 56. If you have a Magnavox
or Philips TV, press to adjust
(decrease) the picture controls.
STOP Button
Press to stop the tape. If you have
a Magnavox or Philips TV, press
to move down or backward one
row or selection in the TV menu
system.
EJECT Button
Press to eject the tape.
JOG/SHUTTLE Button
Press to use the Jog Dial or the
Shuttle Ring.
Jog Dial
Turn this dial while in the Still
mode for jog control. The tape
moves backward or forward
frame-by-frame at the speed with
which the dial is turned.

Shuttle Ring
While in the Play or Still mode,
turn this ring in either direction.
The farther the ring is rotated,
the faster the search speed.
Releasing the ring stops the pic-
ture in the Still mode. For details,
see page 56.
(Tape) SPEED Button
Press to select a recording speed
(SP or SLP). Details are on pages
31, 36, and 58.
VCR/TV Button
Press to select the signal that
your TV receives.
• VCR Position
Use to watch a tape, to watch a
program while recording it, or to
watch a TV broadcast using the
CHANNEL Up/Down or Number
buttons. The VCR light will
appear on the display panel when
the VCR is in VCR position.
• TV Position
Use to watch TV or to watch one
program while recording another.
Details are on page 33. The VCR
light will not appear when the
VCR is in TV position.
PLAY Button
In VCR mode, press to play a tape.
Also, press to release Slow, Still, or
Search mode and to return to nor-
mal playback. Details are on page 56.
In TV mode, press to move up or
forward one row or selection in the
TV menu if you have a Magnavox or
Philips TV.
FF (Fast Forward) Button
When in Stop mode, press to
advance the tape at high speed.
When in Play mode, press to advance
the tape while the picture stays on-
screen. Details are on page 56. Or, if
you have a Magnavox or Philips TV,
press to adjust (increase) the picture
controls.
F.(rame) ADV(ance) Button
In Still mode, press to advance the
picture one frame at a time. Details
are on page 56.
CLEAR Button
Press to erase incorrect data when
programming VCR functions. Also,
press to reset the tape counter to
0:00:00. Details are on page 52.
CHANNEL Up/Down Buttons
After pressing the CBL/DSS, TV, or
VCR button, press to scan through
the channels of the Cable Box/DSS
Receiver, TV, or VCR.
MEMO(ry) Button
Press to memorize a tape location at
which the tape counter was set to
0:00:00. Details are on page 52.
TRACKING Buttons
When in Play or Slow mode, press to
adjust the tracking. In Still mode,
press to eliminate vertical jitter.

some features of this equipment.
