Adjusts the amount of flash light.

• To change flash mode, see page 25.
• If the subject is too bright or dark, this adjustment may have no effect.

The flash strobes two or more times before
shooting to reduce the red-eye phenomenon when
using the flash.

• To avoid blurring of images, hold the camera firmly until the shutter is released. It usually takes a second

after you press the shutter button. Be also sure not to allow the subject to move during this period.

• Red-eye reduction may not produce the desired effects. It depends on individual differences and

conditions, such as distance to the subject, or if the subject looked away from the pre-strobe. When the
eyes of the subject turn out red, correct the image with [Retouch] on the viewing menu (page 58) or with
the supplied software “PMB”.

• When the Face Detection function is not used, the flash does not strobe to reduce the red-eye phenomenon

even when [Auto] is selected.

Flash Level: Adjusting the amount of flash light

Makes the flash level lower.

(Normal)

(+)

Makes the flash level higher.

Red Eye Reduction: Setting the Red Eye Reduction function

(Auto)

The flash strobes to reduce the red-eye phenomenon
automatically when the Face Detection function is activated.

(On)

The flash always strobes to reduce the red-eye phenomenon.

(Off)

Does not use Red Eye Reduction.
