What to do if ...
Remedying Faults
In the event of a fault, try to solve the problem yourself with the aid of
the information provided here. If you call Customer Service to deal
with one of the faults listed here or to remedy an operating fault, the
customer service technician's visit will not be free of charge, even dur-
ing the warranty period.
• If the fault code E10, E20 or E40 is shown in
the multidisplay, you may be able to remedy
the fault yourself (see Faults Table below).
When you have remedied the fault, press the START/PAUSE (START/
PAUZE, MARCHE/PAUSE) button.
• With all other displayed faults (E plus number or letter): switch appli-
ance off and on again. Reset the wash programme and press the
START/PAUSE button.
If the fault code is displayed again, please contact the Customer Service
department quoting the fault code.

The machine does not
work.
The plug is not in the socket. Insert the plug.
The fuse or protection device
has tripped.
Replace/reset the fuse.
The machine door was not
closed properly.
Close the door. You should
hear the door engage.
The START/PAUSE (START/
PAUZE, MARCHE/PAUSE)
button was not pressed long
enough.
Press the START/PAUSE
(START/PAUZE, MARCHE/
PAUSE) until the Programme
begins.
The door will not close.
The child safety device has
been set.
Release the child safety de-
vice (see “Childsafety de-
vice”).
Error code
E40
ap-
pears. The MAIN WASH
(HOOFDWAS, LAVAGE)
indicator flashes.
The door is not closed
properly.
Close the door properly.
Start the programme again.
