PerTronix JBA Exhaust 40-2540 - Manual

INSTALLATION INSTR UCTIONS
* Installation R ecommendation: JBA recommends in most cases that the vehicle be taken to a reputable exhaust shop.
R ECOMMENDED TOOLS:
pry bar
ratchet
15mm deep socket
pair of channel lock pliers
anti-seize
spray lubricant or penetrating oil
PAR TS LIST:
A. Intermediate pipe 1
B. Muffler 1
C. Tail pipe 1
D. R ear muffler clamp 1
E. Front muffler clamp 1
1. R emove and inventory JBA exhaust.
TO STAR T:
2. Disconnect negative battery cable and allow
vehicle exhaust to cool.
3. With the vehicle raised and properly
supported, use a 15mm socket to remove the
bolts that attach the exhaust system to the
Catalytic converter.
4. Using a pry bar or a pair of channel lock pliers,
remove hangers from rubber isolators at the top
of the muffler.
5. Using the channel lock pliers, remove the
tail pipe hanger from the rubber isolator.
6. R emove the original exhaust system from
the vehicle.
7. Using original fasteners, connect intermediate
pipe (A) to the factory catalytic converter pipe.
8. Tighten the fasteners.
9. Slip muffler (B) onto intermediate pipe (A).
10. Insert hanger rods on the muffler into the
factory rubber isolators.
11. Attach clamp (E) to the front of the muffler (B).
12. Install tailpipe (C).
13. Insert tailpipe (C) into muffler (B).
14. Install tail pipe hanger into factory rubber
isolator.
15. Install clamp (D) onto rear of muffler (#).
16. Align tail pipe (C). tighten clamp (D).
17. After installation, it is recommended
that all clamps be re-tightened.
18. Tack weld all slip connections in three spots.
19. Lower the vehicle and reattach the negative
battery cable.
NOTES:
1) It may be necessary to loosen and realign the
spare tire for proper clearance.
2) All exhaust systems will expand about 1"
rearward when exhaust temperatures start to rise
3) Use Anti-seize on threads of clamps.
