1. The total distance of the fiber optic port lengths cannot exceed the limits stated in the table. Each media converter
used inline within a single collision domain reduces the overall segment length by 40 meters (131 feet).
Selecting a Site
Be sure to observe the following guidelines when selecting a site for your
switch.
q Select a site that is dust-free and moisture-free.
q Select a site that will allow you to easily access the data cables and
power cord.
q Make sure the air flow around the switch and through its vents on the
side and back are not restricted.
q For use on a desktop, make sure the desktop is level and secure.
q Use dedicated power circuits or power conditioners to supply reliable
power to the device.
q Keep the twisted pair cabling away from sources of electrical noise,
such as radios, transmitters, power lines, broadband amplifiers,
electrical motor, and fluorescent fixtures.
