SMRC reports

There are two Reporting Center reports that provide errors and alerts on Reporting
Center processing.

l

Data Collection Errors—This reports lists and errors generated during the
Reporting Center data collection process. The following are some common errors
and why they are caused.

l

Error querying server 'server_name': 9 : Storage Mirroring Reporting
Center server is incompatible or the version could not be determined

This error indicates that Reporting Center is unable to communicate with
Storage Mirroring on the server. Make sure that Storage Mirroring is
configured and running on the server.

l

RPC Server is unavailable attempting to connect to \\server_
name\root\cimv2 via WMI

Check the WMI connectivity

between the

Reporting Center server and the Storage Mirroring server. Make sure your
firewall settings allow connections between your Reporting Center server
and the Storage Mirroring server.

l

WMI query on server_name failed—This error may happen intermittently
when WMI is being used by another process. If you receive this error
repeatedly,

check the WMI connectivity

between the Reporting Center server

and the Storage Mirroring server. Also make sure that

DCOM is enabled

.

l

Cannot monitor servers of type (code>)—Reporting Center checks the product type of the Storage Mirroring
server being monitored to verify it is a supported Storage Mirroring product.

If the data collection errors report does not indicate what the problem is, check the

log files

.

l

Alerts—This report lists any errors generated during the Reporting Center data
collection process. If you have configured

e-mail notification

, you will receive a

message every time an alert threshold is met. For example, if you enable the
queue alert, you will get an e-mail message every five minutes (the default for
collection of performance statistics) until the queue drops below the alert threshold.
To configure the alerts, right-click a server in the navigation tree and select
Configuration, Properties. The alert configuration is available on the Server
Analyses
tab.

l

File system—This alert identifies growth rates that predict the file system
may be full with the specified number of days.

l

CPU—This alert identifies when the CPU utilization is within the specified
percentage.
