IV. Restriction
Installer & General
a) Device Tag Name
Below table is restriction on the displays of Segment Viewer and Parameter Manager of the
FieldMate. Please refer to instruction manuals of the device about usable characters for device
tag names. Display positions of device tags are described in the section “H-5 Device Tag Display
Mode on Each Window”.
Characters to pay attention
Tag Name on Segment Viewer and Parameter Manager Frame
Period [.]
Only former parts before “.” is displayed. Ex.: PT12.34 -> PT12
Exclamation mark [!]
Only former parts before “!” is displayed. Ex.: PT12!34 -> PT12
Space [SP]
Only former parts before Space is displayed. Ex.: PT12 34 -> PT12
Double quotation [“]
Double quotation will be transformed to “_” Underscore.
Ex.: PT12”34 -> PT12_34
Last character is backslash [\]
Backslash is located on the Last character of device tag, it will be
transformed to “_” Underscore. Ex. : PT1234\ -->PT1234_
Modem and interface card
a) Interface hardware
It is not advisable to disconnect while communication is established. It may cause the damage of
communication driver, FieldMate software, etc.
Any of the followings:
HART Modem: HART communication
FiedlMate Modem: BRAIN/HART communication
NI-FBUS card: FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 communication
FFusb: FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 communication
PROFIusb: PROFIBUS communication
Infrared adaptor (ACT-IR224UN-LN96-LE): ISA100.11a OOB infrared communication
FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 Communication
a) Parameter with date and time
Data and time data may differ on Parameter Manager and DTM
b) Address change on FFusb
After device address change on FFusb and turn on power again, some device cannot be
communicated (e.g. YTA series). At that time, exit FieldMate, reconnect USB cable and restart
FieldMate.
Main Windows
a) Scroll Bar on the Device Navigator
The scroll bar for search function may not appear on the Device Navigator. Change the window
size, then the scroll bar will be recovered.
