DRUM-P
v
Application:
The fork-mounted drum positioner / rotator is intended to be used with a fork
truck having forks that will fit into 3” x 7” fork tubes. It is to be used to maneuver empty
or sealed 55-gallon steel drums from vertical orientation to horizontal, or vice versa, and
to transport drums horizontally. It is not designed to be used to dump material from a drum.
v
Loading:
The load rating is shown on the serial number tag located at the corner of the unit.
It indicates the net capacity of the drum carrier, which is 800 pounds. Damage to the
equipment or the load, or injury to personnel, could result from exceeding the listed
capacity.
v
Operation:
Insert the forks fully into the fork tubes. Secure the unit to the fork truck by:
1.)
tightening the securing stud onto each fork, and
2.)
looping the chain around the fork
carriage and fastening it back to itself with the quick-link.
Ø
To lay a drum onto its side:
With the carrier resting on the ground, pull the carrier release cable to make the
drum carrier rods drop to the vertical position. Center the carrier over the upright drum
and carefully lower it until the carrier rests on top of the drum. Slowly move backward
while lowering the forks until the side of the drum rests on the floor. Lower the carrier a
bit more to allow the rods to lock into the horizontal position. The drum can then be
picked up, transported, and placed horizontally into a rack or be stacked.
Ø
To stand a drum upright:
With the carriage locked into the horizontal position, slowly approach the top lid of
the horizontal drum until the back of the carrier contacts the drum. Rest the carrier on
the floor and pull the carrier release cable. Slowly move forward while raising the forks
until the drum is upright.
v
Safety:
Æ
Caution: Keep the drum positioner level or slightly tilted back toward the fork truck.
Æ
Caution: Never use the carrier if it is in need of repairs or if it seems to be
malfunctioning. Notify your supervisor or maintenance personnel if you notice
damage to any part of carrier.
Æ
Warning: Do not pull the release cable unless the unit is resting on the ground!
Æ
Warning: Do not attempt to dump material from a drum with this product!
