Setting or Verifying the Flow Rate
For High Flow Sampling (1000 to 3000 ml/min)
Ensure pump has run for 5 minutes before calibrating. Using
1/4 -inch ID tubing, connect a representative sampling medium to
the pump inlet (Figure 1, #4). Connect a calibrator to the inlet of
the sampling medium.
Turn on the pump using the On/Off butt on (Figure 1, #8). To adjust
the fl ow, turn the fl ow adjustment screw (Figure 1, #6) clockwise to
increase the fl ow or counterclockwise to decrease the fl ow until the
desired fl ow rate is indicated on the fl owmeter. When the desired
fl ow is obtained, take three readings to confi rm that the fl ow rate
is consistent. Calculate and record the fl ow rate as the average of
three readings.
Disconnect the calibrator and replace the representative sampling
medium with a new unexposed medium for sample collection.
