4.6.1 Three-phase Supply Units
Check phasing of supply is to the
standard phase sequence of Red-
Yellow-Blue. Connect wiring as
shown in the diagram.
It is essential to check that the
wiring gives the correct direction
of pump rotation. For this
purpose only, the pump may be
run very briefly without oil
lubrication/cooling.
To check rotation before suction pipework is connected:
Visually check through the suction branch that the rotation is as shown on
the casing.
To check rotation with pump installed
A "Phase & Continuity Indicator", connected to the correct pump terminals,
will give confirmation of the direction of rotation.
The visual indicator, fitted to some pumps, will also show the direction of
rotation when filled with oil.
Note: Do not rely on the direction of oil flow. Some types of pump will give
the same direction of flow whatever the rotation.
4.6.2 Single Phase
