GENERAL INFORMATION
The Circuit Guard is designed for UNILITE ® , HYFIRE ® and MBI
distributors and conversion kits that experience failures with
the ignition modules from voltage spikes (voltage transients,
power surges). Voltage spikes are associated with “noisy”
electrical systems from electrical defects such as worn
alternator brushes, corroded or oxidized electrical connections
and similar electrical problems. Voltage spikes are clamped and
regulated by the Circuit Guard from damaging the HYFIRE
®
ignition module.
NOTE: The Circuit Guard does not resolve failures with
HYFIRE
® , MBI and UNILITE ® ignition modules associated
with: a) the absence of an ignition ballast resistor in
applications that require an ignition ballast resistor;
b) improper wiring.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Step 1
Disconnect the distributor female connector from the distributor
wire harness male connector.
Step 2
Connect the distributor female connector to the Circuit Guard male
connector. See Figure 1.
Step 3
Connect the Circuit Guard female connector to the distributor wire
harness male connector. See Figure 1.
Step 4
Mount the Circuit Guard to the distributor housing with Velcro
® .
