Pressure Transducer
The pressure transducer reads the head pressure of the system and transmits this value to the
controller. The controller uses this value to determine the proper fan speed. It is installed on a
Schrader valve connection allowing it to be removed without a loss of refrigerant.
Liquid Line/ Suction Line Heat Exchanger
This heat exchanger subcools the liquid leaving the receiver and superheats the gas leaving
the evaporator. This prevents flashing in the liquid line and helps control liquid returning to the
compressor.
Filter Drier
A large liquid line filter drier is installed to protect the refrigeration system from contaminants. The
core is not replaceable, so the entire unit should be changed if the refrigeration system is opened for
service.
Sight Glass/ Moisture Indicator
The sight glass moisture indicator is provided for charging purposes and to detect the presence of
water in the refrigeration system.
Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TEV)
The TEV meters liquid refrigerant into the evaporator. It has a factory set superheat of 10 F and
should not require adjustment. It is an externally equalized valve. In no circumstances should the
equalizer tube me remove or plugged.
Liquid Line Solenoid Valve (LLSV)
The liquid line solenoid valve protects against migration of liquid refrigerant to the compressor. It is
energized whenever the compressor is energized. The low pressure switch time delay allows for the
valve to be open and satisfy the low pressure switch before a low pressure alarm is generated.
Evaporator
The evaporator is a high efficiency water to refrigerant heat exchanger. It is made of 316 stainless
steel plate brazed together with copper. The strainer installed in the pipeline will protect the
evaporator from being plugged.
