Installation Procedure
N
Follow all local fire and safety code requirements for installation and anchoring. Install the Priority Page Sensor in a UL-compliant
junction box with a cover to meet plenum rating requirements.
For detailed installation instructions, refer to the PoleV
The sensor must be placed close to and in series with the speaker.
1
. Open the top of the Priority Page Sensor (see the figure at right).

The Priority Page Sensor kit is designed for use with all PoleVault
®
switchers that have a paging sensor input. When the Priority Page
Sensor senses a PA system broadcast, it sends a signal to mute the
switcher’s program audio output for the duration of the PA broadcast.
The parts included with the kit include:
Priority Page Sensor
•
35’ (10.6 m) plenum-rated shielded twisted pair cable
•
UL-compliant junction box with cable clamp and cover.
•
The Priority Page Sensor is plenum rated but must be
installed in a UL‑compliant junction box with a cover to
meet the plenum rating requirement. All cables to and from
the sensor must also be plenum rated.
N
The Priority Page Sensor works with 25 V or 70 V and
4/8 ohm PA systems. It was not designed for, and may
not work properly with two-way intercoms, or systems
that are IP-based or use digital clocks.
Priority Page Sensor Kit Overview
2
. Remove the outer protective jacket from the speaker cable to expose the
two individual wires from the position of the sensor to the speaker. Do
not remove the inner protective jackets that cover the individual wires.
3
. If a junction box is being used in a plenum space, attach the cable clamp
and ensure the sensor and all wires fit inside the box, as shown in the
figure below, right. All cables leaving the box must be plenum rated.
4
. Loop (only) one of the exposed speaker leads tightly around the top (open)
part of the sensor (as shown at right). Either speaker wire will work. Leave the
other speaker wire connected directly to the speaker. Polarity need not be observed.
• For a 25 V or 70 V system — wrap 5 to 8 loops.
• For a 4/8 ohm system — wrap 2 to 4 loops.
5
. Close and latch the top of the Priority Page Sensor.
6
. Connect the bare wire end of the supplied blue sensor cable to the 2-pole captive screw connector on the
Priority Page Sensor, passing it into the junction box, if necessary. Polarity need not be observed.
7
. Tighten the cable clamp and secure the lid to the junction box.
8
. Route the connector end of the blue sensor cable to the PVS switcher, and plug it into the Paging Sensor input.
9
. Enable the switcher’s paging sensor port, using Global Configurator or the MediaLink Switchers (MLS) and
PoleVault Switchers (PVS)
control softwar
Testing and Adjustment Procedure
1
. Turn the program audio on.
2
. Speak into the PA system microphone. The program audio is muted while the PA system broadcast
occurs, and restored when the PA broadcast ends.
3
. If program audio is not muted during a PA broadcast, turn the Paging Sensitivity adjustment on the
PoleVault switcher clockwise.
4
. If program audio is muted without a page occurring, turn the Paging Sensitivity adjustment on the PoleVault
switcher counterclockwise.

To prevent the program audio from being
restored prematurely due to a pause by the
announcer, you can set a time delay from
1 to 8 seconds via the switcher’s RS-232
interface. See the switcher’s User’s Manual.
