DVC-3 Data View Communications Cable
The Extron DVC-3 Data View
Communications Cable can be inserted
between two RS-232 devices for
troubleshooting and monitoring (listening
into) the serial communications between
the two devices, without interrupting the
communications. The DVC-3 Cable is
terminated with female to male 9-pin
D-sub connectors for data pass through, with two additional female 9-pin D-sub connectors
used as the monitoring connections to your PC or laptop.
Using the cables
To use the Extron DVC-3 Data View Communications
Cable, unplug the RS-232 cables between the host
and controlled unit, and connect the DVC-3 cable
labeled with “Device A” and “Device B” connectors.
Connect one of the two monitoring cables to the PC
or laptop. The monitoring cable used will depend on
the communication line intended to be monitored.
The connector labeled “A Tx/B Rx” is for monitoring
the Tx (transmit) line of device A, which is also the
Rx (receive) line of device B, and the cable labeled
“A Rx/B Tx” is for monitoring the Rx (receive) line
of device A, which is also the Tx (transmit) line
of device B.
