INSTRUCTION SHEET
PVC VENT SYSTEM ADAPTOR
Please Read And Understand These Instructions Thoroughly Before Starting
WARNING:
Disconnect the power supply cord from the electrical outlet before proceeding.
A CPVC adaptor is required for this GSW Superflue
®
model water heater to allow the use of PVC venting.
This adaptor consists of:
1. PVC coupling - glued to the CPVC pipe.
2. CPVC pipe - to be inserted into the rubber coupling.
The PVC coupling must be attached to the PVC pipe vent
system and all items must be joined with the appropriate
solvent cement and primer/cleaner.
1. Adjust the length of the vent pipe to properly fit to the
adaptor and blower assembly. Pipes must be cut at a
90° angle.
2. Deburr the outside and inside of the cut pipe so that
solvent cement will not be pushed away by sharp
edges.
3. Clean and lightly sand the CPVC pipe of the adaptor
that will connect to the rubber coupling. This will
ensure a good mechanical connection between the
coupling and the pipe.
4. Dry fit all pipes and fittings before joining the parts
with solvent cement.
5. Parts must fit well and not put stress on any sections.
6. Apply solvent cement and join the PVC coupling of
the adaptor to the venting system.
7. At the rubber coupling, loosen the upper gear clamp
to allow the CPVC pipe to be inserted fully 32mm
(1–1/4 in.) deep. Do not use sealant or glue.
8. Tighten the upper gear clamp to ensure the vent pipe
is firmly secured and gas tight.
9. Check that the lower gear clamp is firmly seated,
secured and gas tight.
10. As a final check, the vent pipe should be gently
moved side to side and vertically. There should be no
slippage or movement of the vent pipe within the cou-
pling.
