your kit. This chemical is a vital part of this installation. It is not a cleaner but an adhesive accelerator and must
be used in order to insure a long lasting and reliable bond of your new parts to the factory engine shroud.
Because your factory shroud will expand and contract due to engine heat and natural elements this step must
be applied with careful precision. This means that you will need to make sure that every inch of surface area
to be mounted is swiped with this chemical.
2. Now that all preparations have been made the next step will be to pre fit each of the three main sections to
the factory shroud. Although each piece has been pre shaped for your shroud it is imperative that you further
the shape and contour of each piece in order to insure a perfect fit. This is especially important to eliminate
any possibility of the new section from popping away from the factory cover. If you consider for a moment
that metal by nature will not bend by itself you can expect that a perfectly formed section will never lift away
from its surface if it is properly shaped and installed and it is this fact that will guarantee a good long lasting
installation. Carefully place each section into position to check the fit and also to get yourself acquainted with
just how you will set that section into position. This is especially important because the 3M adhesive is Very
Aggressive and will not allow you to reposition any of the sections without damaging them should they make
contact in the wrong position. Tech tip: It is best to install the sections with the shroud mounted to the
engine because having it in place will stabilize the cover allowing you for proper placement and you will
eliminate having to keep the shroud still while you install the sections.
3. Now that you have prepared the surface and pre shaped each section you may proceed to the attachment
step. Peel the red release liner from the back of each section and carefully set them in place pressing firmly
along the entire surface to set the bond. Use a micro fiber cloth along the surface to thoroughly press the
entire surface flat using some force. This will insure a good contact and thorough bond. With all three main
sections installed all the small gold stainless pieces to their positions on the factory cover. simply press these
in place then when all sections have been successfully installed peel the protective liner's and enjoy your new
look.
4. The last thing to do would be to install the decorative oil cap cover supplied with your kit. You will n notice
that this chrome cover contains a Velcro attachment cookie mounted to the inside of the cover. Simply
remove the cookie half peel the release liner and press and fold it to the finger ridge of your factory oil cap.
Then simply set the new decorative cover in place to finish the installation.
