2.3 Selecting the Location

To ensure accuracy, proper performance and safety, locate and operate the base on a stable, level surface.
Avoid locations with rapid temperature changes or excessive dust, air currents, vibrations, electromagnetic fields
or heat.

Level the base by adjusting the four leveling feet until the bubble in the level indicator (located at the rear of the
base) is centered. A wrench may be needed to loosen the locking nut above each leveling foot. When the base
is level, retighten the locking nuts up against the base to lock each foot into place.

Note: Ensure that the base is level each time its location is changed.

3.MAINTENANCE

3.1 Cleaning

• The base components should be kept clean and free of excessive material build up.
• Avoid directly spraying the load cell with high-pressure water jets
• Water with a mild detergent may be used to clean the external and internal surfaces—do not use acids,

alkalis, strong solvents or abrasive materials and chemicals

• The pan extends past the bottom plate to minimize entry of water or foreign material into the frame. As

necessary, remove the pan to wipe or wash down the internal surfaces of the base.

• Removable components such as the weighing pan, leveling feet and rubber load pads (including column

and CKW-55 Indicator when purchased as a scale system) may be removed and cleaned accordingly

3.2 Troubleshooting

Aside from installing components (Section 2.2) and leveling adjustments (Section 2.3), the CKW Base does not
require any other adjustments as shipped from the factory.

Operational difficulties that may be encountered can often be traced to simple causes such as:

• Loose or incorrect wiring connections
• Obstructions to the weighing pan or base frame
• Unstable environments
• Incorrect calibration or setup of the indicator

If operational difficulties remain unresolved, contact your dealer or an authorized Ohaus Service Agent. Repairs
should be made by authorized service personnel only.
