System Requirements
PC
· Reminder: The FW­1884 requires an OHCI compliant 1394 port.
· Reminder: The FW­1884 requires an update to the 1394 driver provided in
Microsoft Windows. This update is automatically installed from the FW­1884
driver installation application provided on the CD­ROM. The update requires
that you have previously updated your Windows 2000 system to Service Pack
3 or 4, or that you’ve updated your Windows XP system to Service Pack 1.
To see what Service Pack is installed in your system, go to Control Panel | System
and look in the “General” tab under “System.” You can download Service Packs
to your machine using the “Windows Update” feature.
· Also note that future versions of Windows 2000 (starting with Service
Pack 5) and Windows XP (starting with Service Pack 2) will include the
1394 update.
Mac
· Due to OSX and application resource requirements, the following performance
guidelines should be kept in mind:
o A G4 processor and 512MB of RAM are strongly recommended to use the
FW­1884 as an 18­Channel Sound Device in Core Audio.
o A G3 based Mac running OSX may require very high buffer settings when
the FW­1884 is configured as anything greater than a 2­Channel Sound
Device in Core Audio.
