Ejecting SmartMedia cards

Set the POWER/LOCK switch to OFF.

The display disappears.

Raise the SmartMedia ejection switch.

Pull the SmartMedia card out with your fingers.

The SmartMedia ejection switch won’t work
if the POWER/LOCK switch is set to ON.

Attention

• SmartMedia cards are precision devices.

Never force the cards when inserting
them, or subject them to sharp blows.

• Avoid handling and storing SmartMedia

cards in a hot, damp environment.

• Do not touch the contact area (gold electrodes)

of the SmartMedia card with bare hands.
If a SmartMedia card gets dirty, wipe it with
a soft, dry cloth.

• SmartMedia cards may be vulnerable to

electrostatic data corruption. When carrying
a SmartMedia card, put it in its case.
Remember to back up data from SmartMedia
cards to a PC or other storage medium from
time to time (

P.47).

• Corrupted, lost, or erased data cannot be

restored.

Inserting and Ejecting SmartMedia cards

SmartMedia inserted fully into the
slot

When you set the POWER/LOCK switch to
the ON position, “PLEASE WAIT” flashes on
the display.

SmartMedia not inserted fully into
the slot

When you set the POWER/LOCK switch to
the ON position, “INSERT CARD” flashes on
the display for 2 seconds. Pressing any button
with no SmartMedia card inserted causes
“INSERT CARD” to appear again.
Push the SmartMedia card fully into position.
