MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION

Lubrication Recommendations

Engine Oil

Oil and Filter Change (ATP 500)
11. Approximately one cup of engine oil will remain in the crankcase.

To drain, remove the drain plug on the lower right side of the

crankcase.

NOTE: The sealing surfaces on the drain plug and crankcase should

be clean and free of burrs, nicks or scratches.

12. After draining, reinstall the drain plug.
13. Remove the dipstick (2) and add

two quarts (1.9 l) of Polaris

Premium 4 synthetic oil.

Reinstall the dipstick.

NOTE: If the sump is not drained,

add about 1 3/4 quarts

(1.6 l) initially.

14. Place the gear selector in park

and set the parking brake.

15. Prime the oil pump using the procedure below. Then stop the

engine and inspect for leaks.

16. Re-check the oil level on the dipstick and add oil as necessary to

bring the level to the upper (full) mark on the dipstick.

17. Dispose of used filter and oil properly.
Oil Pump Priming
This priming procedure must be performed whenever the oil hose

connection between the oil tank and pump inlet has been disconnected.
1. Clamp or pinch off the vent line (1)

approximately 2I (5 cm) from the oil

tank (2), between the end of the oil

tank vent fitting and the vent line’s

pressure relief slit (3).

2. Run the engine for 10-20 seconds.

3. Remove the vent line clamp. If the

line is bled properly, you should hear a

rush of air, indicating that the line is

properly primed and ready for operation. If you do not hear air,

the line has not bled, and you’ll need to repeat the priming

procedure.
