Open the lens cover and then slide the
Power switch to “$”.

Switch the camera on without opening the
lens cover.

Slide the Power switch to “% ”
without opening the lens cover.

If the Auto Power Off function shuts the
camera down while you are taking
pictures (while the lens cover is open),
use the Power switch to turn the
camera back on.

If you switch the camera on with the
Mode switch (

➡P.9) set to “q”, the

¥

” warning is displayed.

When this occurs, set the Mode switch
to “3” or “r”.

The camera does not switch on unless
you connect the remote controller
(

➡P.69) and play back some music.

SWITCHING ON AND OFF

You can switch the camera on in different ways depending on how you want to use it.

When you switch the camera on, the viewfinder
lamp lights (green). If the date has been cleared,
a confirmation message appears.

: The DATE/TIME setting screen appears

: The camera remains in Still image,

Audio/Movie or playback mode.

With the LCD monitor on, you can check the
remaining charge in the battery.
1Batteries have ample charge (No indicator

displayed).

2The batteries charge is low. Have a new set

of batteries ready.

3The batteries are exhausted. The display will

shortly go blank and the camera will stop
working. Replace or recharge the batteries.

If you do not set the date and time, this confirmation
screen will appear each time you switch the camera on.

!

In Still Image mode, the LCD monitor stays off when
you switch the camera on.

See P.27 for information on switching the LCD
monitor on.

If the batteries charge is depleted, you may not be
able to switch the LCD monitor on.
