should not be used on or near any unim
proved forest-covered, brush-covered or
grass-covered land unless the engine’s
exhaust system is equipped w ith a spark
arrester m eeting applicable local or state
law s (if any). If a spark arrester is used, it
should be m aintained in effective w orking
order by the operator.
In the state of California the above is
required by law (Section 4442 of the
California Public Resources Code). O ther
states m ay have sim ilar law s. Federal
law s apply on federal lands. A spark ar
rester for the m uffler is available through
your nearest Sears service center (See
REPAIR PARTS m anual).
