ENGINE
M aintenance, repair, or replacem ent of
the em ission control devices and system s,
w hich are being done at the custom ers ex
pense, m ay be perform ed by any non-road
engine repair establishm ent or individual.
W arranty repairs m ust be perform ed by an
authorized engine m anufacturer's service
outlet.
TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL
CABLE
The throttle control has been preset at the
factory and adjustm ent should not be nec
essary. Check adjustm ent as described
below before loosening cable. If adjust
m ent is necessary, proceed as follow s:
1. W ith engine not running, m ove throttle
control lever to fast position.
2. Check that sw ivel is against stop. If it is
not, loosen cable clam p screw and pull
cable back until sw ivel is against stop.
Tighten cable clam p screw securely.
TO ADJUST CHOKE CONTROL
The choke control has been preset at the
factory and adjustm ent should not be nec
essary. Check adjustm ent as described
below before loosening cable. If adjust
m ent is necessary, proceed as follow s:
1.
W ith engine not running, m ove choke
control (located on dash panel) to full
choke position.
2. Loosen knob and rem ove cover as
sem bly from air cleaner.
3. Choke should be closed. If it is not,
loosen casing clam p screw and m ove
choke cable until choke is com pletely
closed. Tighten casing clam p screw
securely.
4.
Replace air cleaner cover assem bly
and tighten knob.
TO ADJUST CARBURETOR
Your carburetor is not adjustable. If your
engine does not operate properly due to
suspected carburetor problem s, take your
tractor to a Sears or other qualified service
center for repair and/or adjustm ent.
High speed stop is factory adjusted. Do
not adjust - dam age m ay result.
IMPORTANT:
Never tam per w ith the
engine governor, w hich is factory set
for proper engine speed. O verspeed
ing the engine above the factory high
speed setting can be dangerous. If you
think the engine-governed high speed
needs adjusting, contact a Sears or other
qualified service center w hich has proper
equipm ent and experience to m ake any
necessary adjustm ents.
