SAFETY RULES
•
Rem ove gas-pow ered equipm ent from
the truck or trailer and refuel it on the
ground. If this is not possible, then
refuel such equipm ent w ith a portable
container, rather than from a gasoline
dispenser nozzle.
•
Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim
of the fuel tank or container opening at
all tim es until fueling is com plete. Do
not use a nozzle lock-open device.
•
If fuel is spilled on clothing, change
clothing im m ediately.
•
Never overfill fuel tank. Replace gas
cap and tighten securely.
GENERAL SERVICE
•
Never operate m achine in a closed
area.
•
Keep all nuts and bolts tight to be sure
the equipm ent is in safe w orking condi
tion.
•
Never tam per w ith safety devices.
Check their proper operation regularly.
Keep m achine free of grass, leaves, or
other debris build-up. Clean oil or fuel
spillage and rem ove any fuel-soaked
debris. Allow m achine to cool before
storing.
If you strike a foreign object, stop and
inspect the m achine. Repair, if neces
sary, before restarting.
Never m ake any adjustm ents or re
pairs w ith the engine running.
Check grass catcher com ponents and
the discharge guard frequently and
replace w ith m anufacturer’s recom
m ended parts, w hen necessary.
M ow er blades are sharp. W rap the
blade or w ear gloves, and use extra
caution w hen servicing them .
Check brake operation frequently.
Adjust and service as required.
M aintain or replace safety and instruc
tion labels, as necessary.
Be sure the area is clear of bystand
ers before operating. Stop m achine if
anyone enters the area.
Never carry passengers.
Do not m ow in reverse unless abso
lutely necessary. Alw ays look dow n
and behind before and w hile backing.
Never carry children, even w ith the
blades shut off. They m ay fall off and
be seriously injured or interfere with
safe m achine operation. Children w ho
have been given rides in the past m ay
suddenly appear in the m ow ing area
for another ride and be run over or
backed over by the m achine.
Keep children out of the m ow ing area
and in the w atchful care of a respon
sible adult other than the operator.
Be alert and turn m achine off if a child
enters the area.
Before and w hile backing, look behind
and down for sm all children.
M ow up and down slopes (15° M ax),
not across.
Choose a low ground speed so that
you will not have to stop or shift w hile
on the slope.
Avoid starting, stopping, or turning on
a slope. If the tires lose traction, dis
engage the blades and proceed slow ly
straight down the slope.
If m achine stops w hile going uphill,
disengage blades, shift into reverse
and back down slowly.
Do not turn on slopes unless neces
sary, and then, turn slow ly and gradu
ally dow nhill, if possible.
