Other Information

 The SAR value is determined at the highest certified

power level in laboratory conditions, but the actual

SAR level of the Reader while it is operating can be

well below this value.

 This is because the Reader is designed to use the

minimum power required to reach the network.

 Variation in SAR below the radio frequency exposure

guidelines do not mean that there are variations in

safety.

 While there may be difference in SAR levels among

Readers, all Sony Reader models are designed to

meet radio frequency exposure guidelines.

 The tests are performed in positions and locations as

required by FCC for each model.

 This Reader model PRS-900 has been designed to

comply with applicable safety requirements for

exposure to radio waves. These requirements are

based on scientific guidelines that include safety

margins designed to assure the safety of all persons,

regardless of age and health.

 The radio wave exposure guidelines employ a unit of

measurement known as the Specific Absorption

Rate, or SAR. Tests for SAR are conducted using

standardized methods with the Reader transmitting

at its highest certified power level in all used

frequency bands.

 SAR data information for residents in countries that

have adopted the SAR limit recommended by the

ICNIRP, which is 2W/kg averaged over 10g of issue.

In other countries, such as the US, the adopted limit

is 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1g of issue.
