Intended use
The Weed Burner BG 500 is intended for a non-commercial use and
can be operated only outside. The Weed Burner BG 500 destroys easily
and without use of chemistry weeds and moss at doorways, outdoor
walls, pavements, etc. Additional information you can find in paragraph
Operating principle and possibilities of use of the device.
Important: Please read these instructions for use carefully before
you attach the gas cartridge to get acquainted with the device first.
Keep the leaflet for further reference.
Security instructions and warnings
· Protect the Weed Burner and the gas cartridge from children.
Children are not allowed to use the device (danger of injury)!
· Only use the device outside. The use in closed rooms is forbidden.
· The provided pressure gas cartridge is a one-way receptacle and
cannot be refilled. Refilling is not permitted and could be very dangerous
(danger of injury).
· Make sure before attaching the gas cartridge that the gasket (between
the device and the gas cartridge) is not missing and is in good condition
(see drawing II black rubber gasket in the gas supply valve of the
device).
· The pressure gas cartridge (No. 5) must be always FIRMLY screwed
onto the gas supply valve of the device (No. 6)!
· Follow safety instructions stated on the gas cartridge.
· Ensure that the gas regulation valve (No. 1) is always tightly closed
after you have finished working. Afterwards screw off the gas cartridge
from the device.
· Do not make any manipulations to the gas cartridge or the device
(danger of injury).
· Do not expose the pressure gas cartridge to temperatures over 50°C
(e.g. exposure to sun light) (danger of explosion).
· Only change the gas cartridge when outside and in a sufficient distance
from other persons. Do not smoke when changing the gas cartridge.
· The content of the gas cartridge is a mixture of propane/butane and
is flammable. The device and the gas cartridge have to be protected
from the reach of children and unauthorized persons.
· Never transport the pressure gas cartridge in an airplane.
· Avoid the use of the device near combustible materials (paper, wood
or flammable materials). The device can reach very high temperatures
during normal operation.
· CAUTION: Accessible parts can get very hot. Keep small children
away from the device (danger of burns). Avoid touching the burner,
as long as it is hot.
· Do not put the burner aside when it is on (danger of fire). Do not
leave the device unattended if it is on. Caution! Also after use do not
place the hot burner on flammable materials (danger of fire).
· Never use the device in a barn, in a wood-bower or near a wood fence
(danger of fire).
· The device must be operated at a secure distance from flammable
materials. Minimum distance of 50 cm from flammable materials must
be kept.
· Never use the device in a strong wind, rain or humidity. If the flame
is blown out due to a wind blast, immediately close the gas regulation
valve (No. 1), so that no more gas can flow out of the device.
· Do not keep the device or the gas cartridge near heat sources (heaters,
electrical appliances, ovens or strong sun radiation, etc).
Test for Leaks
If gas leaks out of your device (you can smell gas), take it out immediately
to a place with a good air circulation with no inflammable sources, where
you can look for the leak and fix it. Be very careful to test gas tightness
of your device only outside. Never seek leaking connections using a
flame. Always spread soapsuds over the connections or use a leak-
seeking-spray!
Important information before starting up the device
Do not change settings or make modifications made by the manufacturer.
It is dangerous to change the structure of the device on your own authority,
to remove parts or to use parts which are not approved by the
manufacturer.
Use solely pressure gas cartridges of 330 g, which correspond to the
European Norm EN 417 with this device (e.g. cartridge No. 70801, which
is provided, or replacement cartridges No. 48810 and 52107). These
pressure gas cartridges can be obtained in building and specialized
stores easily. It could be dangerous to try to attach other gas
receptacles.
Do not use the device in a way where the gas cartridge is held horizontally
or where the cartridge valve is pointing downwards. In this case, liquid
gas would stream into the burner, which would lead to a reddish blazing
uncontrolled flame. It is possible that the burner will malfunction. The
appliance has to be immediately positioned upright (see picture I) with
the cartridge valve pointing up. At the same time the gas regulation valve
(No. 1) must be closed. After 2-3 minutes the appliance is fully functional
again.
Do not shake the gas cartridge or the device with properly attached
pressure gas cartridge, before operation or during work. Through shaking
the liquid gas can stream out. If this happens, close the gas regulation
valve (No. 1) immediately. After 2-3 minutes the appliance is fully functional
again, because the gas in the pressure gas cartridge has again been
stabilized.
Change the gas receptacle (pressure gas cartridge) only when outside,
far away from all possible combustible sources, as e.g. open fire, pilot
lights, electric cooking appliances, and in a sufficient distance from other
persons.
Use only outside.
Steps before attaching the gas cartridge
Make sure that all attachments and other connections are correctly
connected and nothing is damaged. Before attaching the gas cartridge
ensure the gasket (No. 8, picture II) in the gas supply valve of the device
(No. 6) is not missing and that it is in a good condition (visual check).
This gasket guarantees a gas tight connection between the device and
the pressure gas cartridge. Ensure that parts where the gas flows are
not damaged. Do not use a device with a damaged or worn out gasket.
Do not use a leaking or damaged device or a device not working properly.
Before attaching the pressure gas cartridge, close the gas regulation
valve on the device. It is very important that always before you light the
flame on the burner, you make sure that all parts are tightly connected.
Never look for a leaking spot with a flame but use soapsuds (e.g. 10
drops of washing-up liquid with water) or a leak seeking spray.
Attaching the gas cartridge
The Weed Burner is completely assembled apart from the pressure gas
cartridge. Make sure that you attach the gas cartridge (No. 5) to the
device outside, away from possible combustible sources, as e.g. open
fire, pilot flames, electrical cooking devices, and in a sufficient distance
