Tjanting Set
Intended use
The electric Tjanting tool is solely intended for private non-commercial
use in dry interior areas. It is a tool for individual creating batik patterns
on fabric (like cotton, linen, half-linen, etc.) by means of liquid wax. Any
other use is not permitted and can lead to injuries. In these cases the
manufacturer carries no liability. The electric Tjanting tool is used to
apply wax easily on fabric you want to design. After the wax has cooled
down, put the fabric into the batik color (not included, observe the in-
structions of the manufacturer of the batik color). Areas waxed on the
fabric will remain uncolored. Wax batik is a fabric dyeing process where
areas which are not to be dyed are covered with liquid wax.

Explanation of the symbols
Do not touch the tip of the tool (wax pot) during operation! The tip
is very hot! The same applies for the metallic tool holder as well as
the upper part of the stand. Risk of burns!
Do not emerge the appliance into water and do not expose it to
moisture. Risk of electric shock!
The temperature of the wax pot as well as the liquid wax is very
high during operation! Risk of burns!
Put away the Tjanting tool correctly on the stand, if is on and not in
use (pos. VI).
Important information before start up
• Read the security instructions before putting the device into operation!
• Ensure that the working area is clean, even and dry.
• Before commencing, unpack the Tjanting Set completely and check
the contents.
• The Tjanting tool and the wax pot are not pre-assembled for the initial
start-up. The wax pot must be screwed on the device (see pos. I and
II). To do so, you need a crosshead screwdriver (not included). In Tja-
nting devices which are operated electrically, the wax is melted directly
in the wax pot and kept liquid at constant temperature. This ensures
constant and steady work.
• When processing multilayer fabrics (working with wax e.g. on the front
side of a T-shirt) we recommend putting a protection ply (e.g. baking
parchment) under the working area. This protection ply prevents un-
intentional penetrating of the liquid wax on fabric areas which are not
intended for dyeing.
