Ramp Gate Latch Kit for the MC V-Twin
The SK0177 ramp gate latch kit is a replacement kit used to re-
place the original latch system shipped as standard equipment on
the earlier version of the MC2000 motorcycle trailer.
Install the SK0177 kit as follows:
Remove the existing latch system supplied with the trailer as origi-
nal equipment.
Latch Plate Installation
Locate template A. It will be used to locate the centers for the holes
to be added to the side frame to mount the latch plate (Item No. 2
in Diagram B). Place the template so that the holes marked Hole A
and Hole B match with the existing holes in the side frame. Once
they are aligned and mated center punch the side frame on the
identified locations.
Drill 7/16” diameter holes in the side frame at the two marked loca-
tions. Drill the holes completely through the side frame.
Locate the two 3/8” x 2 ½” hex bolts. Insert them into the holes just
drilled from the outside of the side frame inward. Place the latch
plate onto the bolts on the inside of the side frame. Secure with
3/8” flange lock nuts. Tighten but do not tighten securely because
the latch plate will have to be adjusted to mate with the latch once
it is installed.
Latch Installation
Locate Template B. It will be used to locate the center for the hole
to be added to the ramp. Orient the template so that it matches
the side of the ramp and Hole C on the template matches the hole
already in the ramp. Once located center punch the ramp in the
identified location.
Drill a 11/32” hole in the side of the ramp.
Remove the left-hand taillight and mounting grommet from the
ramp so the mounting hole can be used as an access to the inside
of the ramp.
Place a 5/16” x ¾” hex bolt into the latch (Item No.1 in Diagram B)
as shown in Diagram A and Diagram B. Place on three 5/16” flat
washers, then insert the bolt into the hole just drilled in the ramp.
Secure with a 5/16” lock nut. Tighten but do not over tighten. The
bolt must be left loose enough so that the latch can rotate by itself.
