MAINTENANCE
Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly And Assembly
NOTE:
When repairing hydrostatic and hydraulic systems, clean the
work area before disassembly and keep all parts clean.
Always use caps and plugs on hoses, tubelines and ports to
keep dirt out. Dirt can quickly damage the system.
NOTE:
Contain and dispose of any oil leakage in an environmentally
safe manner.
WARNING!
AVOID INJURY OR DEATH
Wear safety glasses to prevent eye injury when any of the following
conditions exist:
• When fluids are under pressure
.
• Flying debris or loose material is present
.
• Engine is running.
NOTE:
The drawings may not show the cylinder exactly as it appears
but the procedure is correct for the cylinder.
Use the following tools to disassemble and assemble the hydrau-
lic cylinder:
PU-51107 O-ring Seal Hook
PU-51293 Seal Installation Tool
PU-51292 Rod Seal Installation Tool
PU-51108 Adjustable Gland Nut Wrench
Torque Wrench
Disassembly
1.
Put the base end of the cylinder in a drain pan and move the rod
end in and out to remove the hydraulic fluid from the cylinder
.
2. Put the base end of the cylinder in a vise.
3. Use the adjustable gland nut wrench to loosen the head.
4. Remove the rod assembly from the cylinder.
5. Remove the old shear bolt (Item 2) from the base of the
angle blade cylinder and remove the bushing (Item 3).
6. Remove the cylinder from the vise.
7. Put the rod end in the vise.
8. Remove the nut from the piston end of the rod.
9. Remove the piston off the rod end.
10. Remove the head (Item 1) from the rod.
