Removal and Installation of Shear Bolt
Gearbox Input Shaft Shear Bolt
WARNING
AVOID BURNS
Gearbox will be hot after operating. Let gearbox cool or use gloves
when servicing.
Remove any remaining portion of the old shear bolt (Item 1)
from the shaft.
Tip: Use only shear bolts recommended by Polaris.
Installation: Realign holes and install the new shear bolt (Item
1) and nut. Tighten to 16 ft-lb (22 Nm) torque.
Bristle Shaft Shear Bolt
Remove the bristles from the side the shear bolt is being
replaced. See page 36.
Remove the shear bolt (Item 2) and bristle shaft (Item 3).
Remove the bristle shaft, apply anti-seize to the output shaft
(Item 3) of the gearbox. Reinstall bristle shaft.
Tip: Use only shear bolts recommended by Polaris.
Install the shear bolt and nut (Item 1). Tighten to 60 ft-lb (81
Nm) torque.
Install the bristles on the side the shear bolt is being replaced.
