For smaller or average-size patients, no filtration is needed,
For patients with broad shoulders, the Lateral Cervical Filter (57-406) may be indicated. Position it with
the shadow of the top edge 1" above the level of the external auditory meatus. The bottom edge should
end at the level of the fourth cervical vertebra (see Figure 5-9).

(metal side) over the AP/PA
Filter.
