Position the top edge of the AP/PA Filter at the level of the external auditory meatus. Attach the Breast
Shields on top of the AP/PA Wedge Filter. Place the Build-Up Filter (thick) on top of the Breast Shields,
with the top edge at the base of the nose. Position the Build-Up Filter (thin) on top of the Thick Build-Up
Filter to provide additional filtration for the odontoid process (see Figure 5-7). An increase in technique is
necessary as the patient measurement increases. The measurement is taken in the AP position at the
level of the third lumbar vertebra.
