6. Click
in test 2 to start test and obtain a response using [Pink noise] at Soft (55). Adjust the response to
match that obtained in step 3.Position the speaker directly in front of the client. Click
in test 3 area to
start test and use [Pink noise] at Soft (55) to check for a smooth response. Repeat with Instrument set to
[BTE]. An irregular response may be the result of reflections from nearby objects (including the operator) or
it may indicate phasing problems in the aids.
T-Loop fitting and verification in Speechmap
This test allows the T-Loop response of the hearing instrument to be measured so that it can be compared
against a 65 dB SPL acoustic response.
1. Set the instrument to 'T' (Telecoil input).
2. Click
in any of the test areas to start test and select one of the calibrated speech stimuli.
3. Change the level to T-Loop (65). This will result in a T-Loop signal equivalent to a 65 dB SPL acoustic
stimulus.
4. Click
to measure and store the long-term averaged result. The result can be directly compared against a
65 dB acoustic response, as shown below.
Note: The TL(65) stimulus level produces a magnetic field strength of 56.2 mA/m which, for a hearing aid
operating linearly, is equivalent to the IEC specification (70dB SPL = 100 mA/m) and the ANSI specification
(60 dB SPL = 31.6 mA/m).
