Using the S4 Validator
Next, the S4 Validator reads every byte (or
word) of data from the EPROM. It then uses
one of its robust algorithms (depending on
which library is loaded) to calculate the
appropriate signature value for the data.
Typical screens using the Validator-32 Library
will look like this:
VALIDATOR-32
Working...
Chip:27C256B
This indicates that the manufacturer and
device codes have been successfully read
from the EPROM and a match has been found
in the S4 Validator’s Library (27C256B). The
S4 Validator will begin to tick away as it starts
to calculate the unique signature. The
signature will then be displayed as an eight
digit number (9AA99U5A).
