SFP Module and Cable Installation
CAUTION:
DO NOT bend the LC (optical) cable beyond the cable's minimum bend radius,
data transmission degradation may occur. Follow cable manufacturer's
guidelines for bend radius limitation.
WARNING:
DO NOT look directly into the open end of an active LC (optical) cable or optical
SFP module (with plugs removed)! Serious eye damage can occur from direct
exposure to the infrared light!
NOTES:
SFP Module is hot-swappable. The chassis may remain on when removing and
installing the SFP Module.
HSSDC2 (copper) SFP Modules support 1Gbps operation only.
LC (optical) SFP Modules support both 2Gbps and 1Gbps operation.
Auto Loopback is enabled when there are no SFP Modules installed in the open
Host ports.
An additional PBP Module is available as an upgrade. Contact StorCase for
further ordering information.
Depending on model, your InfoStation may or may not have been shipped with SFP Modules
already installed. If already installed, skip Step 1 and proceed with Step 2.
1.
Carefully insert SFP Module(s) into the appropriate SFP cages (depending on FC
configuration) located on the PBP Module (Figures 9A & 9B). Insert and push the
SFP Module until it "clicks" into place.
WARNING:
To avoid possible damage to the LC (optical) SFP Module, make sure the Release
Lever is on top before inserting SFP Module into the PBP Module (Figure 9A)!
To avoid possible damage to the HSSDC2 (copper) SFP Module, make sure the
Release Tab is on the bottom before inserting the SFP Module into the PBP
Module (Figure 9B)!
Refer to Figures 11-16 for further information on FC configurations.
