7. FREE-ARM
SEWING
Fabric handling, when sewing tubular and
hard to reach garmentareas, is simplified and
made easier when you use the free-arm
sewing capability of your sewing machine.
Sleeves
• Free-arm sewing takes the difficulty out of
topstitching, sleeves, finishing waistbands
and trouser legs rotate smoothly under the
needle, around the arm, allowing you to
place your stitching accurately.
Buttons
• Sewing buttons on a cuff or neckband Is
easy with free-arm sewing. The sewing
arm allows room for cuffs to slip onto
without being stretched out of shape, and
you can also see and handle the stitching
area more easily.
Bar tacks
Bar tacks reinforce areas of strain and can
be applied to ready-made garments, as
well as to those sewn at home. Use the
free-arm surface to avoid fabric bulk
around the needle when you apply bar
tacks to pockets, pleats and waistlines.
7. COSTURA CON
BASE LIBRE
EI manejo de los tejidos, al coser en circular
o áreas de acceso difícil, se simplifica y
resulta más fácil, cuando utiliza la ventaja
de costura con base libre de que dispone
su máquina para coser.
Mangas
La costura con base libre evita las
dificultades que se presentan al realizar
puntadas superiores, coser mangas,
acabado de cinturas y áreas difíciles en
pantalones, ya que al rotar por debajo de
la aguja y alrededor de la base, le permite
realizar su costura con precisión.
Botones
• El coser botones sobre un puño o cuello
es mucho más fácil con la base libre. La
base de costura tiene capacidad para que
los puños se deslicen sin necesidad de
estirarlos o deformarlos, al tiempo que
puede verificar y manejar con mayor
facilidad el área de costura.
Presillas
Las presillas refuerzan las áreas de
tirantez y pueden aplicarse a prendas
confeccionadas, así como a aquellas
costuras del hogar. Utilice la superficie de
la base libre para evitar que el tejido se
arruge alrededor de la aguja cuando aplica
presillas a los bolsillos, aberturas y
cinturas.
