Your Vexilar Ultra Pack system comes with a high quality sealed lead acid battery. In order to
insure maximum running time for your flasher and maximum battery life, you need to follow some simple
charging rules. The included charger is specifically designed for this battery. The charger is also protected
internally from reverse hook up and short circuits. As long as you follow these instructions, you can expect
many hours of use and many years of service from the battery.

Turn the Ultra Pack’s Master Power Switch ON
. You DO NOT need to disconnect the flasher.
Plug the charger into a standard 110 VAC wall outlet. Make sure the charger’s light is on.
Connect the red charger clip to the positive power post and the black clip to the negative power post.
The charger’s light should turn off. This indicates that the battery is now accepting a charge.
Let the battery charge until the charger’s light comes back on. Make sure you wait until it gets to full
brightness. Charge times can range up to 48 hours for a completely dead battery. Do not leave the
charger connected to the battery for more than 48 hours after the light has come on to full bright-
ness.
Tip - For faster charges with automatic shutoff, see your dealer about the optional V-300
1-Amp Automatic Charger.
Fully recharge the battery after each use. Be sure to charge it soon after you are done using it. However,
do not charge it when it is cold. Bring the battery indoors and allow it to warm up for at least one hour
before connecting the charger.
For battery storage, make sure the Master Power Switch is OFF. Charge it every month or two to insure
that it maintains a full charge during the storage period.
Determining the Battery’s Level of Charge
The Battery Status Indicator attached to the battery compartment of your Ultra Pack is designed
to allow you to see the level of charge in the battery while in use. The POWER ON light indicates that the
battery is connected properly. The middle three lights indicate the approximate percentage of charge
remaining. The top light is used only while charging.
Notice that the charger and the status indicator both have lights that tell you when the battery is fully
charged. The charger’s light will likely turn on first. The Status Indicator will remain at the FULL level during
most of the charging time and the “Charge Complete” light may never come on. This is because the Vexilar
charger is designed to bring the battery to a safe level and hold it there, avoiding overcharge.
Remember,
the charger’s indicator light is your primary indicator. Use this light to tell you when your battery is
fully charged. If you should ever charge your battery without a Vexilar charger, then use the Battery Status
Indicator’s light as your “charge complete” indicator.
Please note that the percent of charge shown will vary with the temperature and battery load. The
most accurate reading will be shown when the flasher is running and the temperature is above 50 degrees.
Negative Power Post
Use the power posts to
charge your battery and
run 12 volt
accessories.
Positive Power Post
The
Battery Status Indicator
monitors the level of charge
in your battery. It can help
you see how much running
time is left and when your
battery is fully charged.
The
Master Power Switch
turns everything ON and OFF.
