When you register with Microsoft to receive the hotfix on the Microsoft Support Website you will receive an
email with a link to download the hotfix as shown in Screen Shot #1 below. Note that there is no mention of a
user name and password being required in order to receive the hotfix.
Most of the time, selecting the link results isn the appropriate hotfix file being downloaded as shown in Screen
Shot #4 below. However, in some cases you may receive an authentication requests as shown in Screen Shot
#2. If this happens, do the following:
a)
Select the “Cancel” button on the Authentication Dialog Box multiple times. In most cases this will result
in receiving the hotfix file along with an error message as shown in Screen Shot #3. Disregard the error
message and install the hotfix.
b)
Alternatively, you can click the link in the request email (shown in Screen Shot #1) multiple times and,
eventually, you will receive the hotfix file without as shown in Screen Shot #4.
Install the hotfix file.
