ABOUT THE AUTOMATIC ICEMAKER
A WARNING
Personal Injury Hazard
DO NO T place fingers or hands in the autom atic
icem aking m echanism while the refrigerator is
plugged in.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
A newly-installed refrigerator may take
12 to 24 hours to begin making ice.
NOTE: The water pressure m ust be between 20 and
120 psi on m odels without a water filter and between
40 and 120 psi on m odels with a water filter to
produce the norm al am ount and size cubes.
The icem aker will produce 12 cubes per cycle—
approxim ately 100 cubes in a 24-hour period,
depending on freezer com partm ent tem perature,
room tem perature, num ber of door openings and
other operating conditions.
If the refrigerator is used before the water connection
is m ade to the icem aker, set the power switch to
OFF (O).
W hen the refrigerator has been connected to the
water supply, set the power switch to ON (I).
The icem aker will fill with water when it cools to
freezing.
A newly-installed refrigerator m ay take 12 to 24
hours to begin m aking ice cubes.
Discard the first few batches of ice to allow the water
line to clear.
Be sure nothing interferes with the sweep of the
Autom atic Shut off Arm .
W hen the bin fills to the level of the Autom atic Shut
off Arm , the icem aker will stop producing ice.
It is norm al for several cubes to be stuck together.
If ice is not used frequently, old ice cubes will
becom e cloudy, taste stale, and shrink.
WHEN YOU SHOULD SET THE ICEMAKER
POWER SWITCH TO OFF (O)
• W hen the water supply will be shut off for several
hours.
• W hen the ice storage bin is rem oved for m ore than
a m inute or two.
• W hen the refrigerator will not be used for several
days.
NORMAL SOUNDS YOU MAY HEAR
• The icem aker water valve will buzz as the icem aker
fills with water.
NOTE: If the house water supply (cold water only)
is not hooked up or not turned on fully, turn the
icem aker to the Off (O) position to prevent noise
and possible dam age. Do not turn the icem aker
On (I) until an adequate water supply is connected.
• You will hear the sound of cubes dropping into the
bin and water running in the pipes as the icem aker
refills.
PREPARING FOR VACATION
Set the icem aker power switch to OFF (O) and shut
off the water supply to the refrigerator.
If the am bient tem perature will drop below freezing,
have a qualified servicer drain the water supply
system to prevent serious property dam age due to
flooding from ruptured water lines or connections.
