Fuel filter
NOTE:
The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. It can be
removed and cleaned with a can of carb cleaner or
replaced
To replace the fuel filter:
NOTE:
On snow blower engines, the engine shroud must
be removed to reach the fuel line. Refer to Chapter
3: Air intake systems for directions on how to
remove it.
1. Drain the fuel.
2.
Gently pry up on the tab that holds the fuel line in
place.
3.
Remove the fuel line.
4.
Remove the fuel tank nipple using a 12 mm wrench.
See Figure 4.5.
5.
Install a new filter by following the previous steps in
reverse order.
NOTE:
Apply a small amount of a thread sealing com-
pound such as Loctite® 564 and tighten the filter
by hand and the an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn.

To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gaso-
line is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can
occur when gasoline is spilled on yourself and/or your clothes which can ignite. Wash your
skin and change clothes immediately.
