Operating the Head in Robotic mode
Before operating the Head in robotic mode, it is recommended that any unnecessary equipment be removed
from the payload, such as a vanity mirror. The Head must be re-balanced whenever equipment is removed or
the pan bar handles adjusted. See Balancing the Head and payload.
Setting the camera number
Each head in a system is uniquely identified so that when a camera channel is selected on the control panel,
communication is established with the correct channel. This identification is configured at the factory, but may
be re-assigned later if required.
Switching to Robotic mode
The Head can only be switched to Robotic mode (‘auto’) remotely from the control panel. When robotic mode
is selected from the control panel, the pan and tilt robotic/manual rotary switches set to ‘man’ will automatically
rotate counter-clockwise to the ‘auto’ setting.
To select robotic mode from a Vinten Radamec Control Panel:
When a Head is set to manual operation, the Camera button on the Control Panel appears grey in colour. To
bring the camera online, it must be enabled from the Control Panel before the camera can be controlled.
1.
Select the camera on the control panel.
2.
Select OPTS>ENABLE to bring the camera online.
3.
Check that the pan and tilt robotic/manual rotary switches on the Head rotate to ‘auto’ setting. There is
an audible ‘click’ when the switch rotates between settings.
4.
The camera button on the Control Panel changes to white in colour when the Head has switched to
robotic mode (‘auto’) and is ready for selection.
Operating the Head remotely from the Vinten Radamec Control Panel
When operating the Head remotely in robotic mode from the Control Panel, the Pan/Tilt/Zoom joystick on the
Control Panel is used to move the camera about the pan and tilt axes and control the camera lens focus and
zoom. The camera must be selected on the Control Panel before the Head can be operated using the
joystick. The control of the pan movements using the joystick are shown in Figure 10 and tilt movements shown
in Figure 11.
!
Warning!
Ensure that the Head is in view and clear from
personnel and hazards before attempting to
operate the equipment.
CAUTION!
Do not attempt to manually switch the robotic/manual rotary switches to ‘auto’. Robotic mode
must be selected from the Control Panel.
