5. Choose a location for the chair that is close to a proper ly grounded
electr ical outlet only. Proceed to the Operating Instructions.

• Hold the cord away from the base and retur n the chair to the upr ight
position. Make sure the cord is not pinched between the base
and the floor.

– To reduce the risk of serious injur y:
• Check the condition of the electr ical cords , plug and connector s
regular ly. Keep the electr ical cords away from heat sources . Never
operate the unit with a damaged electr ical cord, plug or connector.
Contact your La-Z-Boy ® dealer for ser vice.
• Do not allow electrical cord to be pinched between moving parts
or between the frame and the floor.
– To reduce the risk of serious injur y:
• Provide a clear path for operation of the back and legrest. Place
ta bles and area r ugs at a distance to allow the legrest to fully extend
without r ubbing or interference.
NOTICE:
To prevent damage to the connectors and cords, it is
impor tant to unfasten all connections prior to removing the back.
This product is equipped with a 3-prong, grounding plug. Plug directly into
a properly grounded outlet, as shown in the illustration below.

Grounding Instr uctions:
– To reduce the risk of electric shock,
serious injur y or death:
• Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result
in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman
if you are in doubt as to w hether the product is proper ly grounded.
Do not modify the plug provided with the product - if it will not fit the
outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electr ician.
– To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric
shock or serious injur y:
• Plug directly into a wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
• Check the condition of the electrical cord, plug and connectors
regular ly. Keep the electr ical cord away from heat sources . Never
operate the unit with a damaged electr ical cord, plug or connector.

• Connect this furnishing to a properly grounded outlet only.
• This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown,
grounding provides a path of least resistance for electr ical current to
reduce the r isk of electr ic shock. This product is equipped with a cord
having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug.
The plug must be plugged into an a ppropr iate outlet that is proper ly
installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes
and ordinances .
• This product is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding
plug that looks like the plug illustrated below. Make sure that the
product is connected to an outlet having the same configuration
as the plug. No ada pter should be used with this product.
