Installing a Media Card Reader

 

 

1.

Follow the procedures in

Before You Begin

.


 

2.

Lay the computer on its side so that the system board is on the bottom of the inside of the computer.

 

3.

Remove the computer cover (see

Removing the Computer Cover

).


 

4.

Remove the drive panel (see

Removing the Drive Panel

).


 

5.

Remove the drive panel insert (see

Removing the Drive-Panel Insert

).


 

6.

Remove the Media Card Reader from its packaging. Remove the shoulder screws from the inside of the drive-panel insert and attach the screws to the
new drive.

 

7.

Gently slide the drive into place until you feel a click or feel the drive securely installed.

Ensure that the Media Card Reader is installed before the USB cable is connected.

 

8.

Connect the USB cable to the back of the Media Card Reader and to the USB connector on the system board (see

System Board Components

).
