How to Get a Beautiful
Lawn
Watering SMART is a critical step
towards a beautiful and healthy lawn.
Water Less Frequently
● Using the S100 to determine which
days to water will promote deep
roots and will water only when
needed, conserving water (and
saving you money).
● Watering too often promotes a
shallow root structure and washes
nutrients from the roots.
Water Deeply
● Set your sprinkler timer to apply
1/2” to 3/4” of water (determine
water application rate for each zone
and calculate the run time to apply
3/4” of water—use cups or cans to
catch water for a fixed time to
determine application rate). Each
zone could have a different water run
time.
Future Adjustments
Manual Threshold Adjustment:
As the grass roots grow back around the biSensor, the
threshold may need to be adjusted. Observe lawn conditions and then adjust the threshold as
needed. To manually adjust your moisture threshold begin by taking a biSensor reading (after
a watering cycle) by pressing the “Read / Set” button. Next set your threshold slightly above
or below this value (an adjustment of 0.5 - 1.0 points is all that should be necessary).
● Raising the threshold will result in more frequent watering.
● Lowering the threshold will result in less frequent watering.
Automatic Moisture Threshold Calibration:
If you need to re-calibrate your moisture
threshold, simply begin by re-saturating the ground surrounding the biSensor. The dirt
surrounding the biSensor needs to be holding as much water as it can, it may take a few
applications of water to accomplish this. Once saturated, repeat Step 7 of this manual to
calibrate your moisture threshold.
Manual Run:
Before you run a zone manually, press the “Bypass” button on the S100. This
will prevent a cycle window from starting. Press the “Bypass” button again once your manual
cycle is over.
